Be sure to put even more time into researching and writing your ad, as you do recording it.</p> <p>Above all else, have fun!</p> <h1>Step 1 - Brain Storm</h1> <p>Meet with your team members and come up with a few basic ideas of what kind of ad you want to make.</p> <p>Decide on who you want to listen to the ad. Is it for adults? Is it for people of your own age or even younger? Is it more for men, than women? It&rsquo;s all up to you. The most important thing to remember is to know your audience!</p> <p>For example, to catch the attention of primary school children, an advertiser would use catchy tunes, funny voices, fun and carefree tones. However if you were aiming it at your friends, it would be better to use famous voices and humour.</p> <p>Decide who your message is aimed at, and then do some research into what would work to catch their attention. What style of ad would they like? Humour? Music? Rhyme? Jingle?</p> <p>Test these out on friends, neighbours, brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents&hellip;. who ever is in your target audience. See what will catch their attention more.</p> <h2>Listen to existing radio ads</h2> <p>Try and figure out who they are aimed at. Ask yourself some of the following questions:</p> <ul> <li>What&rsquo;s the storyline? </li> <li>What meaning do you take from it?</li> <li>Who is the target audience? How do you know? </li> <li>Is the use of music attractive to or recognisable to a particular audience? (60&rsquo;s, metal, rock, children&rsquo;s etc)</li> <li>Where is it set? How do you know? (Sound effects?)</li> <li>Describe the characters in terms of gender, age, class or anything else that seems relevant. Who will relate to them?</li> <li>What stood out about the characters in a matter of seconds? Quality of voice, accent, pace etc.</li> <li>What kind of music is used? What do you associate with that kind of music? </li> <li>What sound effects are used? What would you associate with these sounds?
